Tom Belding’s distinctive career has taken him through science, economics, entrepreneurship, education, and finance…
And now brings his rich base of experience and knowledge to help you achieve your financial goals.
His career began in medical and, later, economic research, working at Johns Hopkins University and Harvard University. He moved on to corporate and non-profit executive roles, with finance a common thread. He has provided economic and financial information services to corporations and government agencies and has been a CFO. He has broad experience with budget management, short and long-term planning, and financial strategy, as well as benefit plans – and helping participants use them to their best advantage. He has managed retirement assets and trust accounts for individuals and organizations and found time to teach financial literacy.
Corporate employers have included Automatic Data Processing, Inc. (ADP), BELKO, Inc., and The Newgrange School of Princeton, Inc. Business experience covered many countries around the world. Educational service included developing guidelines for private school finance in New Jersey.
More recently, Tom opted to switch from organizational financial leadership and planning to being a CFP® financial advisor. This combines his expertise with his passion for helping others.
Tom is a strong believer in giving back to his community. He is a Past President of the Chatham Board of Education, a current member of the Planning Board. He is recognized as a Paul Harris Fellow by Rotary International.
He holds master’s degrees in applied economics, health services administration, and human genetics from the University of Michigan, and a B.A. in zoology from the University of Maine.
Tom is devoted to his family, including two grown sons and their families. In his spare time, he and his wife Meg like to combine their love of sports and travel. You may be just as likely to find them on an exciting ballroom dance floor – particularly on New Year’s Eve – as you would kayaking the Hudson.

service) refers to how an advisor is compensated. A fee-only advisor is paid directly by
their client and does not earn commission of any kind for product sales or referrals. It
is the only method of advisor compensation that is transparent, objective, and
minimizes conflicts of interest. In addition, a fee-only advisor must act in their client’s
