The Chartered SRI Counselor™ (CSRIC®) designation is a professional credential tailored for financial advisors specializing in sustainable, responsible, and impact (SRI) investing. It signifies expertise in integrating environmental, social, and governance (ESG) factors into investment strategies, aligning clients’ portfolios with their ethical values while pursuing financial returns.
Launched in 2018, the CSRIC® program was developed by the College for Financial Planning®—a Kaplan Company, in collaboration with US SIF: The Forum for Sustainable and Responsible Investment. This designation equips financial professionals with comprehensive knowledge of SRI’s history, definitions, trends, portfolio construction principles, fiduciary responsibilities, and best practices.
To obtain the CSRIC® designation, candidates must complete an online self-study course and pass a closed-book final exam. The program covers topics such as the foundations and history of sustainable investing, ESG performance metrics, and incorporating SRI into financial advising. Upon successful completion, designees are required to complete 16 hours of continuing education every two years to maintain the credential.
